Famous for sun, surf and sand, the Gold Coast attracts millions of tourists from all over Australia and the world each year. Stretching along 57 kilometres of coastline, the Gold Coast is more than just beautiful beaches. Only 18 kilometres from the coast is a lush rainforest hinterland with stunning scenery.

At the heart of the Gold Coast lies Surfers Paradise also famously known as the "Glitter Strip". This tourist mecca offers varied and memorable holiday experiences combing the iconic Australian beach culture with contemporary international entertainment.
Since 1991 Surfers Paradise has been host to the iconic Indy which has seen thousands of people descend on the city each year. Starting this year (2009), Super GP has taken over from Indy and is guaranteed to deliver all the same excitement.
Another huge annual event is the Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions Carnival staged at the Gold Coast Turf Club in Surfers Paradise. All the glitz and glamour of horse racing and the illustrious sales take over the Coast for 19 days in January.
The Gold Coast City Council recognises Surfers Paradise as a leading tourist destination and will begin a $25 million redevelopment of the Surfers Paradise foreshore to unveil a more dynamic, beautiful and functional beachfront for everyone to enjoy.
The redevelopment will encompass The Esplanade from View Avenue in the north to Eileen Peters Park in the south. Events such as Schoolies, New Year's Eve celebrations and Gold Coast SuperGP will not be disrupted by the redevelopment with beach access made available at all times.
